Floral Wallpapers at Linlava
Flowers are a fundamental part of our design process at Linlava, where we explore both tradition and innovation through various cultural and aesthetic influences. Our floral patterns range from intricate, small-scale details to grand, oversized motifs. Often starting from a traditional foundation, we create something new while maintaining a strong connection to a specific era or style.
Many of our floral designs are inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement and its leading figure, William Morris. In other cases, we draw on traditional Japanese color palettes or experiment with textures to give the wallpapers a more luxurious feel. Other patterns are rooted in Swedish nostalgia, capturing the essence of classic Astrid Lindgren stories like Barnen i Bullerbyn and Madicken.

Petit Fleur
"Petit Fleur" is a term used to describe small-scale floral patterns where delicate details spread across the surface as a subtle backdrop. Historically, petit fleur has been used to create designs that, at first glance, appear soft and understated, but upon closer inspection, reveal a richness of detail and depth.
The pattern is both subtle and expressive, creating a backdrop that doesn’t overwhelm the room, yet still invites discovery and admiration.
What makes petit fleur unique is its ability to create a sense of calm and harmony in a room. The patterns are often densely repeated, giving a soft, almost textile-like impression. The flowers, typically small and delicate, seem to float across the wallpaper, creating a sense of movement and life. This makes petit fleur patterns particularly well-suited to spaces where a subtle yet sophisticated atmosphere is desired—such as bedrooms, living rooms, or cozy corners.
Technically, petit fleur patterns require a high degree of precision and skill. Each tiny flower must retain its character and variation, even when repeated over large surfaces. Grand Fleur
Grand Fleur describes patterns where motifs, often flowers or other organic elements, are presented on a large scale. These oversized designs are dramatic and bold, making them visual statements that immediately draw attention in a room. Unlike the intricate and subtle petit fleur patterns, grand fleur commands space and creates a central, almost theatrical effect.
At Linlava, when we design Grand Fleur patterns, we aim to create bold atmospheres for larger spaces such as lounges, dining rooms, or entryways.
At Linlava, when we create Grand Fleur patterns, our goal is to craft bold atmospheres for larger spaces such as salons, dining rooms, or entryways. Oversized flowers, for example, bring instant drama and elevate the interior to an artistic level. In the pattern Charleston Grandeur, we enhance this effect by recreating the look of gouache painted on silk. When used in smaller rooms, Grand Fleur patterns can offer an intimate and enveloping feeling by filling the space with rich colors and intricate details.
Designing large-scale patterns comes with its challenges, as scaling up from smaller designs can result in resolution issues or pixelation, a flaw we’ve unfortunately seen elsewhere. At Linlava, we design specifically for large surfaces from the outset, ensuring our patterns retain their sharpness and detail, free from the common pitfalls that often arise when scaling up from photographs or similar sources.
